"Being read to is one of life's keenest pleasures, especially when the reader has an attractive voice and a real understanding of, and sympathy with, the story. I am delighted that many thousands of book lovers, including enthusiasts for detective stories, enjoy this unique experience brought to them by Calibre audio books. The human voice has an intimacy which makes listening a very personal pleasure and which brings the story alive in a unique way.”

Her first book Cover Her Face was published in 1962 and subsequently a number of her novels have been adapted for television and film. In December 2009 she was invited to be the guest editor of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme in which she conducted an interview with the BBC Director-General Mark Thompson. Regular Today presenter Evan Davis said:  “She shouldn’t be guest editing; she should be permanently presenting the programme”.

Some of her books available in the library include: The Murder Room (Catalogue no. 6500) ; A Certain Justice (4910) and Death in Holy Orders (5730).
