Synopsis

In 1897, four-year-old Lucy Thornbury's parents are killed in a train crash. Taken in by her kindly uncle and aunt, Lucy grows up inspired to become a doctor, just like her father was. But training as a doctor in London takes Lucy far away from home, and with the dark clouds of the First World War gathering, will she be able to follow her dreams and find love in a world shattered by war?
