PILGRIMAGE OF GRACE: THE REBELLION THAT SHOOK KING HENRY VIII'S THRONE, THE

Synopsis

During the Pilgrimage of Grace, for a short time, Henry VIII lost control of the North of England and there was a very real possibility of civil war. This is the story of how an army of 40,000 rose up in protest against the king, led by a man named Robert Aske. Having backed down from military force to negotiate terms in London, Aske was betrayed and hanged for treason.
