Trusts and Foundations
We are keen to build long-term relationships with grant-making trusts and foundations and welcome discussions about how we can work together to reach more print-disabled people.
Grants can help us to grow and offer new services, as well as supporting our core activities. In 2011, Trusts and Foundations provided 27% of our income and helped to deliver our library service to over 20,000 members.
Grant-funded activities last year included:
-
Enabling more members to enjoy their audio books on USB sticks
-
Providing training and equipment for our volunteer readers to record books digitally
-
Converting popular cassette titles into MP3 format
-
Supporting our volunteers
We also received 49 grants from regional trusts to help deliver our audio books to members in their areas, and from three Armed Services charities to support our members who have served in the Army, Navy and RAF.

In 2012, we hope grant-funding will enable us to
-
Launch a new streaming service
-
Offer 1,000 best-selling books to download
-
Work with schools to reach young people with special needs
