20 year awards

Honouring our Volunteers

12 September 2012

On 12th September Calibre held the 2012 lunch for volunteers and staff. Everyone was inspired by our guest speaker, James Goldsworthy. James is a Calibre member and explained how much enjoyment Calibre's audio books bring into his life. James lost his sight at 28 as a result of diabetic retinopathy but that has not stopped him achieving many things - in the sporting arena he has won 2 bronze medals in acoustic shooting, has completed overseas treks, recently experienced climbing and is soon to drive a tank! James is a trustee at Bucks Vision and about to become Chairman there.

Calibre's chairman, Ian Yeoman, thanked all volunteers and staff for everything they had contributed to Calibre over the last 12 months which have been a time of challenge and change in many areas of our operation. Ian presented awards to Nancy Buxton and Caroline Judd who have both completed 20 years service as volunteers. Gary Mahon, who left Calibre recently, was acknowledged for 25 years service.

Following the presentations, a buffet lunch was enjoyed by all in a marquee at Calibre's premises near Aylesbury.
