Young Calibre Day
26 June was Young Calibre Day, at our premises near Aylesbury. We launched our Young Calibre Reading Awards to celebrate the achievements of young members:
50 Calibre books or more: Bronze award
100 Calibre books or more: Silver award
150 Calibre books or more: Gold award
It was an exciting day: with talks about writing from authors Anne Fine and Julie Hearn, and readings from actors Terrence Hardiman and Richard Ratcliffe, who record many of our Young Calibre books. Anne Fine presented certificates to some of our award winners.
Those who could not be there will not miss out. Award certificates are in the post, and if you qualify, you should receive yours soon. We will be checking for the latest winners every three months.
Congratulations!
Support the Right to Read
Children lobbied parliament for textbooks they can read a year ago. Promises were made, but not much has been done. Where’s your book today?

There is another chance to be heard.
Write to your MP. Ask them to write to the Minister, and sign EDM 1210. This motion calls on the Government to make good on last year's commitment, and plan to make books available in formats that those with sight loss or dyslexia can read at the same time as everyone else.
Call or email us if you want a draft letter to use. And do let us know how you get on.
If you want to check who your MP is, go to http://www.upmystreet.com/commons/l/
